Food waste is a topical issue here in the UK, as highlighted by the recent BBC series Hugh’s War on Waste.

Blogger Liz Smith from Neeach, the social network for food lovers, visited FareShare Greater Manchester recently to see how organisations and individuals have been tackling the issue.

“I’ve seen first hand the effort and logistics (not to mention the funding) that need to happen in order to collect, sort and redistribute the food that would otherwise be wasted and it takes a huge amount of people power to make it happen.”

The Greater Manchester team also had a visit from the Manchester Evening News, which followed them delivering hundreds of Christmas meals to people in need.
