FareShare is delighted to have been selected as one of this year’s three charity recipients of The Daily Telegraph’s 2017 Christmas Charity Appeal, launched today.
The Telegraph has supported incredible charities from across the country for the last 27 years, and last year the chosen three charities received more than £550,000 between them.
FareShare Chief Executive Lindsay Boswell said: “We’re excited to have been selected by The Daily Telegraph, as it gives us a golden opportunity to show readers how their support really helps people in need; and what they can do to help us get even more food out to people living in food poverty.”
During the Appeal The Telegraph will share some of the stories of people benefitting from food delivered by FareShare. Ivy has been going to the Holborn Community Association for older people in London for the last 12 years: “I first came here when my husband died. I’ve got no family, there were 28 of us but they’re all gone. The people down here are so lovely, and the staff are brilliant. So are all the volunteers. It’s nice to have something to do, it’s like therapy really. And the food is something to look forward to.”
The 2017 Christmas Charity Appeal will also shine a welcome spotlight on Fareshare’s army of volunteers, our food heroes. Ex-Serviceman Andy heard about FareShare last year and is now a regular driver volunteer: “You get a lot of satisfaction when you turn up to the charities. People are glad to see you, and you know that you’re making a difference to the people that you’re delivering to.”
The 2017 charities are FareShare, Missing People and Canine Partners. To donate to FareShare please visit Telegraph Charity Appeal
