How to direct volunteers to apply via your own application form

When a volunteer wants to register interest for your opportunity on the FareShare Community Hub, they will be prompted to fill in a short form with their contact details. You will then need to contact them to discuss the next steps of the application process.

If you have an existing application process and the next step is for volunteers to fill out your own organisation’s application form (for example, a form on your own website or a Google form), you can set the application process up so that volunteers are automatically directed to your form. This saves you from having to manually contact the volunteer and helps streamline all your volunteer applications into a single place.

Step 1: Enabling external applications for your organisation

  1. To sign in, go to doit.life/fareshare
  2. Click ‘Sign In’ on the top right and enter your login details
  3. You will be directed to Your Spaces. (Can’t see this option? Click here for more help)
  4. Click the ‘Profile’ icon
  5. You will be directed to your Organisation Profile. Click the three dots
  6. Click ‘Edit Organisation’ from the dropdown
  7. You will be directed to your profile admin. You will see the details that you previously added when you created your organisation
  8. Scroll down to Is external applications allowed? section
  9. Tick the box to enable ‘External applications allowed’
  10. Click ‘Next’
  11. On the next screen, you will be able to add a Logo, Header Image and Theme Colour. If you haven’t previously set these and do not want to set these now, please click “I’ll do this later” to save your changes.

You are now able to set external applications. The next step is to add the relevant external link to each volunteer opportunity.

Step 2: Setting the external link for a volunteer opportunity

Once you have completed the above steps, you will see the field Allow external application on your Opportunity form.

You will see this field when you create a new opportunity or when you edit an existing opportunity.

  1. Scroll down to Allow external application and tick ‘Yes’
  2. You will be prompted to enter an external application link.
  3. Enter the link for volunteers to be directed to (for example, the Volunteer form on your own website)

Please note: You will still receive automated emails letting you know when a volunteer has registered interest on FareShare Community Hub.
