How to manage Volunteer Applications

When a volunteer registers interest for your opportunity, the following will happen:

  • You will receive an email notification from Do IT called “Someone wants to volunteer with you”
  • The volunteer will receive an email confirming that they have successfully registered their interest and will hear from the organisation soon

The next stage is to communicate with the volunteer to discuss their application.

To view a volunteer’s application

  1. To sign in, go to doit.life/fareshare
  2. Click ‘Sign In’ on the top right and enter your login details
  3. You will be directed to Your Spaces.(Can’t see this option? Click here for more help)
  4. Click ‘Recruit’

  5. Click ‘Applications’

This will display your new, pending volunteer applications.

To contact the volunteer

As part of the application process, volunteers will have to provide an email address. They are also encouraged to provide a phone number. You can find these details recorded against their application:

You can use these to contact them directly about their application (to begin your screening and induction processes).

Accepting or declining the application

You have the option to accept or decline applications on the platform. In either case, the volunteer will be sent an automated email to let them know.

It’s useful to accept and decline applications to give you visibility on which applications are new and so that you can filter your applications accordingly.

  1. Click the three dots on the right of the application

  2. Click ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ on the dropdown

If you have set up a custom acceptance email for the opportunity, your custom acceptance email will be sent to the volunteer when you click ‘Accept.

Filtering volunteer applications

You can filter your volunteer applications by status: Pending, Accepted, and Declined.

  1. Click the filter option on the top

  2. Select a filter

By clicking a status filter, your results will update to only show you relevant applications.
