FareShare and MPs supporting Food Waste Bill

29 January 2016

Friday 29 January 2016

FareShare this week had the opportunity to meet MPs at the Houses of Parliament, in a gathering of support for the Food Waste Bill, being introduced by Kerry McCarthy MP.

With a display of good quality surplus food representing a typical delivery to a charity as a backdrop, FareShare staff had the chance to engage with MPs from across the political spectrum about the challenges and opportunities around surplus food redistribution.

Many thanks to Kerry for this great chance to speak to engaged MPs about FareShare’s challenges and our call for a level playing field on food disposal costs.

As a result of the event, many MPs are now booked to visit our FareShare Regional Centres across the country, all looking forward to demonstrate their work in addressing food poverty and food waste.

The Food Waste Bill, initially set to to be read out on Friday 29 January, will have its second reading soon and FareShare continues to support Kerry MCCarthy’s efforts. Watch this space!
