Over the past month, we welcomed 194 Tesco staff including five directors to our depots as part of Team Volunteering Days.
The super sorters donned their steel toe-capped boots and high-vis vests to help get our Neighbourhood Food Collection stock sorted at depots across the UK.
In total, that means 776 hours of volunteer time and almost 60 tonnes of food sorted – the equivalent to 142,680 meals!
Simone Connolly, FareShare East Midland said: “Having such a large team of volunteers to help sort our stock ready for distribution is making a massive difference. While our existing volunteers work extremely hard, we always struggle to find the time to sort stock at the end of the day. With the Tesco staff helping out, we have been able to send the Neighbourhood Food Collection stock out to our groups much quicker than usual.”
