Daniel lost his partner during the pandemic – he’s a single Dad with young kids. Getting them fed isn’t as easy as it should be. Thanks to his local Community Centre, he’s been able to pick up a FareShare food parcel that makes sure his kids have something to eat. It’s not just food on plates, it’s a lifeline.
A widower and father of a young family, Daniel has spent several years living in temporary accommodation and has been receiving FareShare food since the coronavirus outbreak began. “The food has got more expensive and we have not had the money to eat.” It has been a challenging year for Daniel, he lost his partner during the first national lockdown and that meant the loss of the main income for the household. For the past four months Daniel has been going twice a week to his local Community Centre to pick up a food parcel supplied by FareShare. “Since walking through the door, coming here has been the best time of the week.”
A single mum, who lost her part-time job at the beginning of the pandemic, has been receiving FareShare food at a most critical time. This has not only enabled her to feed her family, it has given her some breathing space to get back on her feet, taking away stress and sleepless nights. “Knowing I can get food on the table has helped me financially as well, now I have money to pay the bills and the rent.”
