Veronica has been volunteering at the FareShare warehouse in Deptford for a year, sorting and delivering surplus food to charities and community groups in London.
“I really enjoy delivering the food to charity and community groups because I get to see how food brings people together. It’s a human right for everyone to have good food.”
The food our charities receive is all in date, fresh and nutritious, and it makes a huge difference to children at breakfast clubs, older people at lunch clubs and those at homeless shelters, to name a few.
But the charities couldn’t provide people with a balanced meal without the Food Collection. We rely on the general public to donate long life food items like rice, pasta, tinned tomatoes and fruit to go alongside the fresh food received from the food industry.

“I love volunteering at FareShare. I took redundancy a year ago and needed something that gave me routine and structure to my day while I decided what to do with the rest of my life.”
