And The Business in the Community award goes to… FareShare!

Awards presentation

5 July 2017

In partnership with Tesco, we are thrilled to have won the Experian Award for Building Stronger Communities at the Business In the Community annual event last night at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall. The Experian Building Stronger Communities category recognised projects or initiatives run by businesses that play an active part in the social and economic regeneration of communities.

“We are over the moon to have won the award for building stronger communities. The Partnership with Tesco and FoodCloud has been a unique collaboration, working closely together from the beginning of the programme to do everything we can to make sure no good food goes to waste, whilst building something that is scalable, sustainable and really adds value to the voluntary sector and the communities in which they do their amazing work.”

Kris Gibbon-Walsh, Food Programmes Manager

Our FareShare FoodCloud programme, which Tesco helped develop and launch, illustrated scale and longevity and the judging panel felt that it makes a lasting positive impact on the key and often complex issues facing the communities in which it operates.

FareShare FoodCloud in partnership with Tesco has helped provide more than 10 million meals to over 5,400 charities across the UK. The award celebrates our efforts to tackle food waste in local communities and make a real difference to vulnerable people who need it the most through the charities we support - such as homeless shelters, substance-abuse rehabilitation charities and lunch clubs for older people.

FareShare FoodCloud matches charities and community groups with local Tesco stores who have surplus food available for collection at the end of the day and is available across the UK.
