On Saturday 1 July FareShare London joined Good Deed Dating for the first ever LGBT event. This marked the beginning of LGBT Pride Month, and also got us in the spirit of celebrating London Pride ahead of FareShare’s walking parade this weekend.
Volunteer daters experienced being a ‘food hero’ in the warehouse to make a difference to vulnerable people in the local community needing food. They picked, packed and sorted good quality surplus food to go out in FareShare vans to homeless shelters, school breakfast clubs and old peoples’ lunch clubs.
“I read about Good Deed Dating in a magazine last year and thought it sounded great, so I’m really glad they’re doing LGBT events now” says Tash, 25, from Stoke Newington, who’s signed up to the event. “It will be good to get back to meeting people offline and doing something fun at the same time!”
The LGBT event hosted at FareShare London was a great way for likeminded daters to have fun whilst giving back to the local community and trying a worthwhile new dating experience.
One Good Deed Dater said, “The FareShare event was relaxed and felt rewarding to spend time helping others. I would definitely be interested in volunteering again.”
A big thank you to Good Deed Dating for making this happen. We look forward to joining the local community in celebrating London Pride on Saturday 8 July and welcome all to come along and support us.
