Natures Way Foods provide 100,000 meals

25 November 2019

Thank you to Natures Way Foods for providing enough food for charities and community groups around the UK to create 100,000 meals. By diverting their surplus mixed salads, fruit and vegetables, Natures Way are helping FareShare get good quality, healthy meals onto the plates of people in need.

“As a fresh, convenient food manufacturer, it's especially important that quick distribution in refrigerated vehicles is available, and Fareshare plays a vital role in making sure the food we don’t use in production is distributed quickly to the right organisations and turned into nutritious meals. It’s fantastic to see the collaboration across the industry focussing on reducing food waste and we are proud to be part of this.”

Colin Smith, CEO, Natures Way

Natures Way Foods began their partnership with FareShare in 2017 and regularly share a range of fresh food. When the company has surplus  they divert it to FareShare, who then deliver it to frontline charities like homeless hostels, refuges, lunch clubs for older people and school breakfast clubs - via our network of 22 Regional Centres.

FareShare provides a valuable route to divert edible surplus generated during production that can’t be avoided, but which can instead generate social value through feeding people in need. Natures Way Foods have committed to the WRAP-IGD Food Waste Reduction Roadmap to ‘Target Measure, Act’ on food waste, which aims to reduce food waste across the food and drink sector by 20% by 2025. Their support and contributions to FareShare help towards these commitments which include a shared vision to redistribute surplus food to people in need ahead of other options.

Adele Fash, Commercial Manager at FareShare:

“We are delighted that Natures Way Foods are committing to redistributing their surplus salads as well as fruit and vegetables which are so valuable to the charities we support. To be able to provide families with balanced, nutritious meals is an essential part of the work of the charities and groups that FareShare supports.”
