30 September 2021

Consumer brand OXO, from the Housewares segment of Helen of Troy Limited, is partnering with FareShare as part of its ongoing commitment to the 1% for the Planet initiative, helping FareShare rescue even more edible surplus to feed those in need.

“Our new 1% for the Planet partners are a powerhouse group of nonprofits tackling big environmental concerns day in and day out. OXO’s commitment to 1% for the Planet helps ensure the impact of the grantees’ work will be felt for years to come.”

The 1% for the Planet initiative is a global community of brands giving back to environmental nonprofits driving positive impact. OXO is expanding its nonprofit partnerships with eight new grantees in France, Germany, Japan and the US, with FareShare being OXO’s key partner in the UK.

With OXO’s support FareShare will be able to rescue an additional 79 tonnes of food, diverting it, and all the resources used to produce it, from being wasted. The volume of food rescued is the equivalent of over 186,000 meals.

“Our new 1% for the Planet partners are a powerhouse group of nonprofits tackling big environmental concerns day in and day out,” said Indigo Teiwes, Director of Corporate Responsibility at Helen of Troy. “OXO’s commitment to 1% for the Planet helps ensure the impact of the grantees’ work will be felt for years to come.”

Since joining 1% for the Planet in March 2020, OXO has provided millions of pounds of funds and resources to organisations addressing some of the most pressing environmental issues of the day.

Lindsay Boswell, FareShare CEO, said: “We are very thankful to OXO for picking us as their UK partner. Food waste is not only a social issue but also a huge environmental concern and it’s only with the help of our partners that we can make a greater impact.”
