Rush Group help create 100,000 meals for vulnerable people

9 January 2020

We're delighted to announce fresh produce supplier Rush Group have redistributed over 42 tonnes of surplus food to FareShare since May 2019. That's enough to help create 100,000 meals for vulnerable people.

“We are always looking at innovative and efficient ways to reuse surplus crop and FareShare provides a simple and meaningful way for doing so. We are proud to support the work of FareShare and delighted to know that we have played a part in providing 100,000 meals and will continue to do so!”

Rush Group's surplus potatoes have been transformed into hearty home cooked meals and served up at almost 2,000 charities and community groups across the UK, including community centres, supported housing for people who are homeless and day centres for vulnerable adults.

This August, during FareShare’s ActiveAte campaign to tackle holiday hunger, Rush Group sent us almost 20 tonnes of potatoes — helping FareShare supply more nutritious food to holiday projects providing a hot meal to children from disadvantaged backgrounds who might otherwise face hunger over the school holidays.

“Establishing a partnership with FareShare was a no brainer for us. It is not just about charity but is a great opportunity for us to embed our corporate responsibility throughout our supply chain. Tackling food waste is a significant issue within the global fresh produce industry and given the role we play across complex supply chains we are doing exactly that through our relationship with FareShare.”
