HRH Prince Harry serving lunch at the Newham StreetGames

Prince Harry surprised children in Newham when he dropped into a summer holiday activity session – part of the StreetGames Fit and Fed campaign, which offers free sports sessions to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, along with a free, nutritious, healthy meal.

Research shows 73% of the poorest families report a constant struggle to feed their children in the summer holidays – and it’s this issue that Fit and Fed aims to tackle.

FareShare is partnering with StreetGames to provide enough food to create 250,000 free nutritious lunches and snacks for children across the UK who might otherwise go hungry over the summer holidays.

The day started off with games and races, and Prince Harry didn’t pass up the opportunity to get stuck in – enjoying a game of tag with some of the youngest participants. After all that exercise, it was time for some food. Chatting with the Fit and Fed volunteers, Prince Harry served up a healthy of lunch of salads, snacks and wraps, with ingredients provided by FareShare.
