Whether you go for home-made or ready-made, frozen or fresh, few can deny a good Yorkshire pudding is a wonderful addition to any (or indeed all) meals.
Thanks to deliveries of surplus Yorkshire Puddings from the team at Aunt Bessie’s, FareShare have been able to redistribute Yorkshire Puddings to charities and community centres across the UK.
“Aunt Bessie’s are proud to support FareShare whenever we can,” says Debbie, Stock Controller for Aunt Bessie’s. “We know that a good Yorkshire pud’ and a home-cooked meal can put a smile on anyone’s face, so we’re thrilled to be able to do our bit in supporting the local communities and charities who can provide this for those facing hunger across the UK.”
One of the charities which receives food from FareShare is the Grassmarket Community Project, who provide support for some of the most isolated and disadvantaged people in Edinburgh, including adults who are homelesss and people with physical and mental health problems.
“Last year was our first year with FareShare and we provided over 8,500 community meals,” says Jonny Kincross, Chief Executive of the Project. “These are either free meals to those attending our activity programme or social enterprise, as well as serving meals at our soup kitchen style drop-in service. Both these types of community meals provide sustenance to many people, and to most, this will be their only meal of the day.”
Could you help somewhere like the Grassmarket Community Project supply a hot meal for someone in your community? Just £1 will provide a hot meal for four people. Donate here.
