On 16th September 90 hardy fundraisers from Disney braved the iconic Olympic Dorney Lakes Triathlon course, raising over £63,000 for FareShare in the process.
The money will help FareShare redistribute surplus food from the food industry to charities across the UK, including breakfast clubs, refuges and older people’s lunch clubs — creating 252,000 meals for vulnerable people.
The triathletes (many of them first-timers) battled the course solo or in teams of three, taking turns to run, swim and cycle.
FareShare’s Head of Fundraising, Lindsey Cape, said: “We were delighted to be chosen as Disney’s charity partner for the 2018 Triathlon. Taking on something like this is an incredible challenge, so we want to thank everyone who took part – what a heroic effort!”
