FareShare & Nagel Langdons

28 February 2017

Do you ever have overproduction, cancelled orders, forecasting errors or manufacturing mistakes, leaving you with food you can’t sell as intended?

We know food businesses take pride in the food they produce and don’t want to see it go to waste. When situations like these arise, partner with FareShare and we can help provide a solution. We can use your food for social good, by distributing it to charities across the UK who turn surplus food into nutritious meals for vulnerable people.

How FareShare Works

FareShare is the leading UK wide charity fighting hunger and food waste. We redistribute surplus food to frontline charities and community groups that support vulnerable people.

FareShare reaches 1,100 towns and cities, providing food for almost 26 million meals a year and supporting over 400,000 people every week. By ensuring good food is not wasted we turn an environmental problem into a social solution.

For more than 22 years FareShare has been working with the food industry to identify quality, in date surplus food that can be redistributed to charities.

The 5,589 charities that receive food through FareShare provide a lifeline to vulnerable people, including homeless hostels, children’s breakfast clubs and lunch clubs for older people. By receiving food through FareShare, these organisations are better able to provide nutritious meals alongside life-changing support.

Nagel Langdons & FareShare Partnership

Food businesses often want to do the right thing with their food but don’t know where to start – with limited time to find someone who can use the food, and then difficulties getting the stock to them.

Nagel Langdons, part of the Nagel-Group, are the ideal partners for FareShare as they allow us to make it easy for food businesses. They’re able to transport the stock to FareShare quickly, so we can make the most of food with a short shelf life. We can also accept large volumes of food, as Nagel Langdons can arrange delivery to all 20 of our Regional Centres across the UK.

This year, Nagel Langdons have moved over 2,000 tonnes of food to FareShare, which equates to nearly half a million meals for vulnerable people.

Addressing Key Concerns

  • We have 23 depots across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and operate at scale.
  • We can use any stock that is food safe, including chilled, ambient and frozen.
  • We are authorized to distribute retailer branded products and do not need food to be over-labelled in order to redistribute it.
  • Our warehouses are food safe and accredited, and our charity members follow strict food safety and traceability guidelines.
  • We work with a broad range of charities, so there is always demand for a wide variety of products.
