Girl Guides support FareShare at star-studded ‘Big Gig’

17 October 2017

For the first time ever Girlguiding teamed up with FareShare to collect tins and raise awareness of food waste and food poverty at their massive annual concert.

Girlguiding can collections for FareShare at #BigGig

The event, held last Saturday, saw 20,000 girls from across the UK flock to Wembley SSE Arena, to watch big name acts like Pixie Lott, Ella Eyre and 5 After Midnight. Each troupe bought a can to donate to FareShare – which was then distributed to charities. They also got the chance to chat to our volunteers and find out more about FareShare.

FareShare’s Commercial Director, Alyson Walsh said: “We had a can-tastic day out with the Girl Guides, collecting food which will go to charities and community groups supporting vulnerable people, including hospices, drop in centres and homeless hostels. We met so many fantastic young people and their leaders which led to great conversations and ideas for future collaborations up and down the country.”

“Awesome day and a huge donation of food from Girl Guides UK.  Thanks so much! The future’s in safe hands with these caring girls”
