Give peas a chance, says FareShare’s Head of Fundraising

3 December 2018

A pod-uctive day in the FareShare office…

Lindsey Cape, FareShare’s Head of Fundraising, is taking a radical, hands-on approach to philanthro-pea – dressing as a gigantic pea every day until Christmas.

She’s aiming to raise £5,000 for the charity, which takes surplus food from the food industry and redistributes it to vulnerable people, through a network of 10,000 charities, including refuges, breakfast clubs and older people’s centres.

Lindsey said: “I might look silly, but I’m doing this to raise awareness of a very serious issue. Food poverty affects one in eight people, and for families facing hunger, the Christmas period is incredibly tough. If I hit my target FareShare will be able to deliver enough food to create 20,000 meals for families in crisis.

“I’ll be dressed as peas commuting to work, walking the dog in Richmond Park, going to meetings, in the supermarket, to the cinema and even nights out, and just so you know I’m not cheating I’ll be posting lots of photos on Twitter.”
