Celebrating National Tea Day

celebrating national tea day

This Sunday 21st is National Tea Day. Tea has been a British staple for centuries and, as a country, we remain one of the largest consumers of tea around the world.

But there’s more to tea than what’s in the bag. A shared pot provides the perfect opportunity for people and communities to come together.

Bee Wirral in Merseyside run a Community Hub for the local community. Donna Golding, Director of the centre told FareShare “Since we have been working with FareShare we have supported many families and individuals to access food to supplement their budget and feed their children. Local people tell us “When the light is on in Bee we know we can go for advice, support and a cup of tea.”

At FareShare we know how important tea is to the community groups and charities we support which is why we work with our food partners to get as many boxes as possible out through our network. In the last year alone we have distributed 4.8 million teabags – that’s a lot of conversations started.

James Russell, Planning Manager, Twinings said “Here at Twinings, we know how important something as simple as a cup of tea can be in helping you start the day right and lifting your spirits. That’s why we work collaboratively with Fareshare to help support their work in distributing surplus food, and supporting local communities through difficult moments.”
