We continue a full national operation to get food to vulnerable people during the Covid-19 crisis.

From commercial caterers to community kitchen, thanks to FareShare & Sainsbury’s

21 July 2020

The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that more charities than ever before have signed up to receive food from FareShare.

With a £3million donation to help cover the cost of additional transport, the team at Sainsbury’s have helped FareShare support hundreds more organisations across the UK getting food to local communities during lockdown.

One of these organisations is Fooditude – a commercial kitchen supporting over 1,500 vulnerable people with nutritious, pre-cooked meals, using food supplied by FareShare.

“We serve a lot of elderly people and we have received letters of thanks from many of them,” says Cristina, Head of Strategic Growth at Fooditude. “So I know we have relieved some of their worries about getting food during lockdown.”

“Normally we are a contract caterer but during the Covid-19 crisis we’ve repurposed our commercial kitchen into a community kitchen. Being involved with FareShare has been a great help.”

Thank you to Sainsbury’s – you’re true Food Heroes!
