A new 2021 partnership
Phoebus Software have set themselves a target of raising £10,000 for FareShare to help provide meals for struggling communities.
Staff were moved to vote for FareShare as their charity partner, after being inspired by Marcus Rashford and his work bringing food insecurity into focus. They have since taken on a mix of fundraisers including a raffle, disco bingo, quiz sessions and a cocktail masterclass.
Lindsay Boswell, CEO of FareShare, said: “It is down to the determination and generosity of companies like Phoebus Software that we can continue to offer vital support to people experiencing food poverty in the UK.”
10,000 steps through March
Their step challenge in March saw staff at Phoebus Software take their fundraising outside to complete a minimum of 10,000 steps a day. Richard Pike, Sales & Marketing Director, participated in the challenge and smashed his original fundraising target.
He said: “After agreeing to do 10,000 steps a day for our company charity FareShare in March, I’ve ended up at 550,000 steps, which is over 200 miles walked. A definite challenge when doing the usual 8 to 10 hour days… 100% helped my mental wellbeing during the month also and I will continue to walk regularly now.”
At a time when social distancing has made it difficult to be together physically, the challenge proved a useful way to connect staff and work towards a shared goal.
Tips for other staff fundraisers
Dave Breeze, QA and CS Change lead, is a seasoned charity organiser at Phoebus Software. His top tip for people thinking of staff fundraising is: “have no shame in chasing staff to get involved with events and chasing for donations, not when the funds are going to those less fortunate. Organise events that people will enjoy doing and would do as a social activity anyway, and then ask for a charity donation.”
Thank you to Phoebus Software and all the staff involved. We’re grateful for your incredible fundraising.
