After the success of last year’s UK-wide volunteer awards we were really looking forward to celebrating our volunteers this September. However, Covid-19 restrictions meant a large scale event wouldn’t have been possible, so Regional Centres found their own ways to say a very special thank you – with plenty of balloons, bunting, awards and, of course, cake!
“Words can’t express how much volunteers have helped us during this crisis. We’re incredibly grateful for the support of all our volunteers throughout this period” says Hannah Feld, Senior Volunteering Development Officer and responsible for organising the Volunteers Awards.
We’d also like to express our thanks to FerryFast and IPL for their kind donations of fresh produce as an extra special thank you gift to our volunteers. Both companies are important supporters of FareShare, providing regular weekly donations of much needed surplus fruit and vegetables, helping those we support to access nutritious food.
“IPL generously donated lots of delicious fruit and vegetables to recognise our fantastic volunteers. We took Volunteer Awards Week as an opportunity to pause and celebrate the 1,600 tonnes of food our volunteers collected, sorted, picked, packed and delivered for 300 vital frontline projects across Yorkshire throughout the pandemic. To be able to reward the volunteers with fruit and vegetables as well made the week extra special.” Jonathan Williams, Head of Development at FareShare Yorkshire.
Yvonne Foody, Volunteer Manager at FareShare Midlands said: ‘Big thank you to FerryFast for the lovely fruit provided- it was a really nice gesture for our volunteers to be able to help themselves to fresh fruit during the Awards Week.’
Congratulations to all our volunteers and thank you again for your incredible contribution to FareShare.
