We continue a full national operation to get food to vulnerable people during the Covid-19 crisis.

No one should go hungry this Christmas.

No one should go hungry this Christmas

“Without FareShare I wouldn’t be able to provide two meals a day for me and my daughter, she’s even eating more and trying new things that we couldn’t afford before.”

It has been an incredibly tough year for many with an ever-increasing number of people unable to afford the food they need to feed their families and themselves. At FareShare, the demand for food has more than doubled as a result of the pandemic.

Thanks to your support we have been able to help people like Daniel and Moira, who were experiencing financial hardship and struggling to feed their families.

A widower and father of three from Glasgow, who has spent the last five years living in temporary accommodation has been receiving food since the coronavirus outbreak began. “The food has got more expensive and we have not had the money to eat”. It has been a challenging year for Daniel, he lost his partner during the first national lockdown and that meant the loss of the main income for the household. For the past four months Daniel has been going twice a week to his local Community Centre to pick up a food parcel supplied by FareShare. “Since walking through the door, coming here has been the best time of the week”.

A single mum from Manchester who lost her part-time job at the beginning of the pandemic, has been receiving FareShare food at a most critical time. This has not only enabled her to feed her family, it has given her some breathing space to get back on her feet, taking away stress and sleepless nights. “Knowing I can get food on the table has helped me financially as well, now I have money to pay the bills and the rent”.

Daniel and Moira are among the many hundreds of struggling families whose lives have been changed for the better thanks to donations from FareShare friends like you. Sadly, the request for assistance has grown significantly with more vulnerable people at risk of going hungry this Christmas. Please will you send a gift and help us reach more people in need?

We are grateful to you for responding to The Old Vic’s call to donate to our Christmas appeal. With your help we can put a meal on the table of thousands of families like Daniel’s and Moira’s this winter. Because no one should go hungry. Please donate now.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to The Old Vic and the A Christmas Carol audiences for supporting FareShare’s Christmas Appeal.

Every year, through the run of A Christmas Carol, The Old Vic (a charity itself) partners with another charity to raise money at the end of each performance. We are delighted that the theatre has chosen FareShare as its charity partner for this year’s fundraiser.
