Unfortunately, with the increasing issue of food insecurity and a growing awareness of our work, there is the potential for fraudulent activity by third parties claiming to be raising money for FareShare or even impersonating our organisation in order to divert donations.
Across the charity sector as a whole, most fundraising appeals you will see are genuine, so the risk of fraud should not put you off giving to charities. However, you should be always vigilant and make sure you are giving safely to legitimate organisations and through our approved systems.
At FareShare, you can donate through the following channels:
- FinDock – the online donation platform used on our website.
- JustGiving
- PayPal
- Facebook
- Instagram
- Twitter/X
- Donr – for text donations
- Work for Good
- Benevity
- CAF Charities Aid Foundation
- Through your employer on payroll giving. Our payroll giving partners are Payroll Giving in Action, GoodPAYE and Hands on Payroll Giving
- By direct payment into FareShare’s bank account
- Dedicated campaigns advertised on social media, TV, radio, national press media and/or the FareShare website.
The Fundraising Regulator and Charity Commission for England and Wales advise you to pause and check before donating. This includes:
- Check the charity name and registration number – FareShare’s registration number is 1100051.
- Checking the Fundraising Regulator’s online Directory to see if a charity has committed to good fundraising practice fundraisingregulator.org.uk/directory.
- If you’re still unsure about giving you can contact fundraising@fareshare.org.uk for any further information you may require.
- An appeal should always be clear about exactly what the money will be used for.
If you have opted out of our communications, FareShare will never send you unsolicited emails or text messages asking you to donate.
