Food support

FareShare does not deliver food to individuals, but there are many organisations who do. If you are an individual in need for food, please seek help from one of the organisations below.

Independent Food Aid Network (IFAN)

IFAN is the UK network for independent food aid providers. They support and connect a range of independent frontline food aid organisations while advocating on their behalf at a national level.

Across the UK there is a growing network of food banks, food distribution charities and local support hubs. To find one nearest to where you live, search the Independent Food Aid Network’s interactive map.

Please visit their website for more information.

Feeding Britain

Feeding Britain are running a network of emergency food programmes across the UK to protect children and their families from hunger. Hot meals and food packages are being made available, through a combination of home deliveries and collection points in the communities in which we operate, to ensure families on low incomes can put breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the table each day. For more information, please visit their website.

Olio Food Sharing App

OLIO is a free app allowing neighbours to offer perfectly good, unwanted food to each other. Everything shared on OLIO is for free. They have also developed safe sharing ‘no-contact pickups’ in response to COVID-19. For more information, please visit their website.

The Trusell Trust – Food banks

Food banks are designed to provide short-term, emergency support with food during a crisis. They aim to relieve that immediate pressure by providing food, but also offer additional support so that people don’t need to use the food bank again in the future. Once someone has been referred, they can exchange their voucher at their nearest food bank for an emergency food parcel containing a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced food. If you’re in financial crisis and live in England or Wales, please call 0808 2082138 for free (open Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) to talk confidentially to a trained Citizens Advice adviser.
