Bristol-based pasta company, RaviOllie, recently turned a glut of surplus pumpkins from a farmer's fields into delicious hand-made ravioli.

The company, founded by Ollie Greenhalgh, turned 60kg of pumpkins, that would otherwise have gone to waste, into 600 portions of fresh pumpkin ravioli.

This ravioli will be stored at the FareShare South West regional centre in Bristol, ready to be distributed to people in need through our network of charities and community groups.

Gene Joyner, CEO at FareShare South West said “At FareShare South West, we have the infrastructure and know-how to redistribute tonnes of food at a time but we’re nimble enough to adapt and innovate too. Take this partnership with RaviOllie. With a bit of creative thinking, they’ve been able to transform surplus food from a nearby farm into nourishing, delicious meals, ready for us to freeze and distribute to charities and community groups across our community.”

Avon Gleaning Network, Farrington's Farm, RaviOllie and FareShare South West all worked together to ensure that good-to-eat surplus pumpkins didn't go to waste.
