This November, thousands of Zero Heroes across the country will be challenging themselves to cut out food waste completely by taking part in FareShare’s Zero Waste Challenge. Will you join them?
What is the Zero Waste Challenge?
The rules are simple, just aim for zero food waste (or as little as possible) to go in the bin. Eat anything edible and explore new ways to use your food waste. From banana skins to broccoli stems, we’ve got plenty of recipes and tips to help you cut out waste completely.
The challenge kicks off Wednesday 1 November. We recommend two weeks, but you can take part for as little or as long as you want, whether it’s one week or the whole month.
Get sponsored by friends, family and colleagues. When you sign up, we’ll send you a link to your unique fundraising page where you can collect donations. Plus, we’ve got plenty of fund-raisin ideas and tips to help get you started.

Enough food for 7 billion meals goes to waste in the UK every year. FareShare believes no good food should go to waste, which is why we redistribute surplus food to where it belongs — on people’s plates. Whilst battling to reduce food waste at home, you’ll raise money to help FareShare prevent food from going to waste on a national scale.
For every £1 you raise, you’ll be helping FareShare to redistribute the equivalent of four meals to people facing food insecurity.
Your fundraising will help FareShare to continue to save good-to-eat, surplus food from going to waste and get meals to over 1 million people across the UK.
“I am struggling to pay for everything... I rely on this food and the food bank, I couldn’t manage without.” Someone receiving FareShare food via one of our 8,500 charities and community groups
With one in five people already facing food insecurity in the UK, and the cost of living crisis continuing to impact people’s lives, your support is needed more than ever. As we move into the colder, darker months, FareShare food could be an essential lifeline to the millions of people across the UK facing food insecurity and social isolation.
Will you step up to the plate to get meals to those in need?
