Red Lentil (Daal) Recipe


Ingredients

500g Red Lentil

10g Red chilli powder or (Green chillies whatever amount deem suitable) or to taste

10g Turmeric powder

5 cloves of Garlic

10g Fresh Coriander

100g or 50g of Butter → Optional

Salt to taste

OPTIONAL → Some people fry onion and add the daal curry at the end.

Method

  1. Wash the lentil 5-6 times in a 2-litre cooking pan. Put 1 litre of water, add the turmeric powder and chilli powder, then put it on the cooker to cook until lentil is cooked. Consistency of daal should be as per requirement.
  2. Cut garlic into small bits, fry it with oil until golden brown in a shallow frying pan, and add to the cooked lentil.
  3. Chop the fresh coriander and add it to the lentil curry. Add butter if required, season with salt, and cook for 2-3 minutes on low heat. Ready to serve!
