FareShare is a proud partner of the Coronation Food Project, inspired by His Majesty King Charles III, in response to the urgent challenge of reducing food waste and tackling hunger.
As part of the Coronation Food Project, FareShare calls on the food industry to unite in our innovative new ‘Alliance Manufacturing’ programme to create essential food items for thousands of charities across the UK.
The Alliance Manufacturing programme seeks to unlock more surplus food for redistribution by bringing project members together to share their surplus, underutilised and donated resources in all forms – food, packaging, labour hours, and factory/distribution capacity.
One company could donate surplus ingredients, another could contribute unused packaging, and another could present production line capacity. Alliance Manufacturing will be focused on producing essential food items that are harder to access through usual surplus sources.
The result is to create food items made from surplus/under-utilised resources with volumes that FareShare can predict and blend into the peaks and troughs of food supply throughout the year.
By joining forces to promote best practices and teamwork across the industry, it is also intended that the UK will become a leader in reducing and redistributing surplus food waste, unlocking even greater social and environmental impact.
