Wider support

FareShare does not provide wider support to individuals, but there are many organisations who do. If you are an individual in support, please seek help from one of the organisations below. We regularly update this page.

The British Red Cross

The British Red Cross has set up a free coronavirus support line for people who are feeling lonely or worried, or finding it hard to cope during these uncertain times. Red Cross volunteers from the psychosocial and mental health team are on-hand to provide both practical and emotional support, and connect people with additional support in their local area.

The support line telephone number is 0808 196 3651 and it’s open daily from 10am to 6pm. The service is free, and completely confidential. You can find more information on the British Red Cross website.

NHS Volunteer Responder Service

If you are currently not supported and need some help with shopping, a prescription collection or a friendly chat then NHS Volunteer Responders can help you. The service is for people who are shielding, are over 70 or pregnant with a medical condition, have a long term health condition – or if for people who consider themselves to be socially or medically vulnerable for any other reason. The Association of Charitable Organisations

The ACO represents around 120 charities that all provide grants to individuals in need of support. During the rest of this year they are running a campaign called Here to Help to raise awareness amongst key referral agencies and members of the public of the support that could be available to them from grant-giving charities. As a part of this campaign they have also developed a short leaflet for individuals about the financial help that is available from charities and how to find support, and a poster for referral agencies to remind them of the help that could be available to individuals that approach them in financial distress. View their leaflet here.
