Ty Seren is a homeless project that provides supported housing to single women between the age of 16 and 25. They offer a safe environment and support to woman who find themselves homeless for various reasons.
FareShare recently started delivering food to Ty Seren twice a week. Clare, a staff member at the homeless project, explains the benefits gained from working with FareShare: “Having our food provided by FareShare has saved us a lot of money, therefore enabling us to put the saved money to good use on various other activities. Having the food delivered is also an added bonus, which saves us a lot of time”.
“We are so grateful for the service FareShare provide and are really glad to use it. We are really glad to be involved with minimising food waste, and happy to use good food that would have gone to waste. We also produce very minimal waste ourselves, rarely letting anything go to waste.”

The food FareShare provides Ty Seren is used to provide essential cooking lessons alongside greatly appreciated welcome packs to new residents on arrivals. Staff member Clare describes the importance of the cooking and budgeting lessons provided, and how the residents truly gain from the life skill lessons. She says “We aim to promote healthy eating and give the residence confidence in cooking. We show them what is possible if you budget and cook.”
Kate has been a resident at the homeless project for just over a month. She enjoys taking part in the weekly cooking lessons provided on a Friday and expresses the alleviating pressure felt when she was welcomed with a food pack. The resident says “The cooking lessons are great, it is nice when everyone joins in and it is really communal.”
“The welcome pack of food I received when I arrived was ideal; it made me feel really welcome.”
8.4 million people across the UK are struggling to put food on the table. We think that is unacceptable, especially when so much good food is going to waste. We need your help to fight hunger and food waste today. £1 is enough to help deliver food for 4 meals. It’s the generosity and commitment of supporters like you that helps bring FareShare’s mission to life.
Set up a regular or one-off donation, or send a text message to make a gift to make a difference to people’s lives today: text FARE18 and the amount you would like to donate to 70070 (e.g. FARE18 £10). It will help us deliver more food to frontline charities and community groups like Ty Seren, which provide good quality, nutritious food to single women like resident Kate.
