Double your donation with the Big Give’s Green Match Fund

FareShare is once again taking part in the Big Give’s Green Match Fund, giving you the opportunity to double the impact of your donation this April.

The Green Match Fund campaign is designed to support charities with an environmental, sustainable, or ‘green’ focus by providing match funding. Between Thursday 18 April and Thursday 25 April, every £1 you donate to FareShare via the Big Give’s website will be match funded, doubling your donation!

Thanks to our generous supporters and Big Give Champions The Reed Foundation, we have £20,000 in our matching pot. If we can raise £20,000 in online donations, we’ll reach our matched target of £40,000.

This would enable us to redistribute the equivalent of 200,000 meals to the communities across the UK who need it most.

More than 4 million tonnes of food grown in the UK goes to waste each year – enough for 10 billion meals.

Donate to FareShare’s Big Give appeal to help us save twice as much food from going to waste, instead redistributing it to some of the 11 million people experiencing food insecurity across the country.

FareShare’s Food Life Extension (FLEX) Project is just one of our innovative solutions to reduce food waste and its environmental impact. By processing and repackaging food through freezing, canning, preserving or juicing it, we produce long-life stocks of food for local charities and community groups to draw on when supplies are low.

A glut of tomatoes becomes canned soup, an over production of seasonal fruit is bottled as thirst quenching juices, and excess carrots are frozen into batons, extending their shelf lives ready for bulk meal preparation.

And, for every tonne of food that you help us redistribute, we prevent the waste of two tonnes of CO2e emissions and 2.66 million tonnes of embedded water.
