A huge thanks to our longstanding partner G’s, who have been working to identify even more fresh surplus for FareShare to redistribute to people in need.

In the two years since our partnership began G’s have already provided over 300k meals to vulnerable people, via our network of frontline charities. Earlier this year G’s invited us into their Head Office to talk to their teams about identifying untapped harder-to-reach surplus within their operations. As a result, G’s are now redistributing more fresh vegetables than ever before.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are vitally important to the 10,000 UK charities supplied by FareShare, which include breakfast clubs, domestic violence refuges and homeless hostels.
Drop-in centre Deptford Reach received their first delivery of onions from G’s last month. The charity supports those affected by homelessness, mental illness, drug or alcohol misuse and social exclusion.
Manager Catherine Cowling, said: We tend to chuck a load of the fresh veg into our soup as it’s a really good way to get veg into people who wouldn’t usually have access to healthy food. Because of the nature of some people’s mental health conditions they may not be eating properly, or getting that care elsewhere.
“We would definitely struggle without the fresh fruit and veg from FareShare, it makes a huge difference.”
