Did you know that 28 April is ‘Pay It Forward Day’, a global movement that hopes to inspire 10 million random acts of kindness – small actions that make a difference to others, like buying a coffee for someone in need, or giving your time to help a friend or neighbour.

We’re grateful that our wonderful volunteers and supporters carry out acts of kindness all year round – without their energy and commitment, FareShare would not be able to redistribute good, surplus food to the people who need it most – but we’re also excited about Pay It Forward Day, because it’s a great way to show that we can all make a difference.

If you’d like to take part in Pay It Forward Day, and help FareShare to fight UK hunger at the same time, here are a few ideas:

• Sign up to give three hours of your time as a Neighbourhood Food Collection volunteer and in just a few hours, you could collect enough food to create 500 meals. If you want to spread the goodness even further (and make it a fun day out) why not encourage your friends and family to sign up too?
• We’re always on the lookout for ‘Food Heroes’ to sort food at one of our Regional Centres, as well as drivers who can take to the road to help us deliver food to local charities. Find out about volunteering opportunities at your nearest Regional Centre.
• Help us to spread the word about FareShare and our work to redistribute good, surplus food to charities and community groups that support vulnerable people.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter, or sign up to our newsletter to keep up to date with our latest news.
