Kent

FareShare Kent was established in 2013 as part of the Children and Families group, a charitable organisation providing a range of services aiming to give children and families the best opportunities in life.

Located in Ashford, FareShare Kent operates from two warehouses to support over 140 community groups, schools and charities, providing nutritious meals using redistributed surplus food. 813.85 tonnes of food were shipped across Kent & Medway last year alone, equating a total retail value of almost 3 million pounds! This enabled 1,937,738 nutritious meals to be made and enjoyed alongside additional community services.

Our achievements would not be possible without our team of over 200 dedicated volunteers, who ensure quality surplus food reaches those most in need. By using our fleet of ambient and chiller vehicles, the team deliver food across the region to gain valuable work experience, develop new skills and undertake new qualifications. In turn our volunteers have donated over 34,000 hours of their time this past year!

Voices from FareShare Kent…

“We use the food for snacks for the children, as well as ingredients for baking. Yesterday we got lots of bananas so the children made banana bread”
Vanessa at YMCA Tovil Pre-School Maidstone

“Food plays a part in making our patients and their loved ones feel safe. Sometimes you don’t have much left but food to look forward to at this stage and for their families, often the last thing they want to think about is cooking for themselves.”
Wendy at Pilgrims Hospice
